In this body of work, I explore the vernacular architecture of Paxos, focusing on the island’s historic stone houses, shops, ruined buildings, and traditional church belfries scattered throughout the landscape. Each painting is an individual portrait of a characteristic island building. Through these works, I aim to capture not only the appearance and nostalgic presence of these structures but also preserve a record of the island’s architectural heritage, which is gradually disappearing.
